Nice and shining... Sebamed pH 5.5 Review

As individuals we all have our own opinions on what we want from our skincare ranges.
Luxury, Natural, Tradition the list is endless.  I would hate to say I am fussy consumer however I know what I like and what does not agree with my skin.

I am someone who would love perfect skin just for a day.  I have been close however I have never woken-up to flawless face, there has always been a pimple or dry skin somewhere.

Sebamed asked me to review a couple of products for them.

Sebamed pH 5.5 is a company that sell products without all the fluffy stuff. I would prefer say back to basic products, made by medical professionals, all dermatologically tested.  Sebamed is part of a leading medical brand; Sebapharma GmbH & Co. KG. Their products contain high-quality active ingredients which cleanse and nourish the skin.  There has been over 120 scientific studies with  amazing results. Very good skin compatibility of all sebamed products, they are compatible for sensitive and problematic skin.
sebamed represents one of the leading brands for medicinal skin care with a pH value 5.5 of healthy skin. All products of the sebamed range contain high-quality active ingredients which cleanse and nourish the skin without destroying the natural acid protection mantle. - See more at: http://www.sebamed.com/company/brand.html#sthash.pOMxBI7O.dpuf

What is pH? Also known as potentia hydrogenii, it has been around for years.  pH values allow us to differentiate acids and bases from each other, label them according in their strength. Anything that contacts water also has a pH value, which can be determined using an electronic pH meter.  Our skin is pH 5.5, smack in the the middle of balance grid.

Our skin surface contains water and is slightly acidic, the skins surface has a acid mantle, it works as a natural defense system. Its job is to protect the body from harmful microorganisms, hence why we suffer infections, irritations, allegeries, breakouts and dryness to name a few.

acid mantle

Its important not to damage the your acid mantle or do anything that could damage it. Have you ever wondered why the skin on your face dries out when using a normal soap, the normal soap will have a high pH value 8-12 distorting your skins natural balance, causing the dryness.

I had never used products from the Sebamed pH 5.5 range until my review, so I was very intrigued and wanted to find out more.

CLEAR FACE: Antibacterial Cleansing Foam
I am a sucker for a pump bottle, I like a frothy cleanser.  It pumps light balls of foam, the fragrance is fresh and pleasant, creamy in my palms. I add a little water before using it to wash my face. Leaves my face feeling soft and clean. Once my face has dried it feels good, not tight or greasy, just right.

CLEAR FACE: Deep Cleansing Facial Toner
The blue liquid pours our fast on cotton wool. I use the toner on all the areas on my face I think there are impurities for deep cleaning, I sweep my skin rather then drag the cotton wool across it, I dont want to stretch my skin. The cotton wool usually has dirt afterwards. The Toner smells really nice.

The term “pH value” has been widely talked about for years now.  There is hardly anyone who hasn’t heard it or read it on shampoo bottles or tubs of cream. But how many people are actually aware of what this abbreviation stands for and what it means?
“pH” is short for the Latin term “potentia hydrogenii” and translates as “hydrogen ion concentration”.
pH values allow us to differentiate acids and bases from each other and label them according to strength. Anything that contains water also has a pH value, which can be determined using an electronic pH meter or an indicator such as litmus.

After using these two products together for a few weeks. I still have spots appearing but I have not had any deep painful spots.  My skin feels smoother and cleaner thought-out the day. I have not had that oily residue after a long day (usually my T-line would be feeling shining too.)  The appearance of my skin looks slightly clearer and the redness around my nostrils has been reduced.

I should mention, none of the products I have used smell medicated. They have a fresh, clean, light fragrance, neither over powering.

Sebamed offer a wide range of CLEAR FACE Products so I am wondering what my skin would be like if I used the whole program.

If you are unsure what is right for your skin type; There is a great multiple choice skin adviser questionnaire, its takes a few minutes too complete. At the end of the questionnaire your skin type has been evaluated, your skin type and recommendations of which products will suit you will be offered.  I found the system very smart.

ANTI-DAY: Revitalzing Shampoo
I also wanted to try this shampoo.  I once had lovely, silky hair and was shining.  I can only talk for myself.  But even since having my sons, my hair quality has really changed.
My hair is rather long, there is lots of it but its super fine.  After having my sons, lots of my hair fell out, mostly around my hairline. I looked awful. Eventally my hairline grew back. However my hair has never been the same. Its brittle and looks dry.

The shampoo feels really nice, lathers-up lots. I have been washing my hair without conditioner (Something I never usually do) My hair has definitely become revitalized, it looks glossy and healthy again. The downside is my hair goes fluffy and its super flyaway.

I like the brand, I hope to familiarise myself with more products. Sebamed have a whole host of products for babies, women and men, something for the whole family.  Definitely worth a try if you have skin problems and want help.  Also a good idea if you have great skin and want to maintain yours good looks.

Prices vary and products start from as little as £3.70. Most products can be purchased online from all major pharmacies.

This is an unsponsored post, I have been given the products to review, these are my honest words.
